Early Career Teacters (ECTs) and Recently Qualified Teachers (RQTs)

Supporting our Early Career Teachers (ECT) is a key priority of Orwell Education Alliance. Our ECT Induction Tutors have used the content available from the DFE, and their extensive knowledge of supporting teachers new to the profession, to create a programme that ensures our ECTs receive all of their entitlement and thrive in their new careers within OMAT schools.  Our induction tutors meet to share best practice and can provide support to other schools, where needed.

In addition, we offer additional CPD for Maths, Writing and Reading with sessions that are specific for each phase – this includes EYFS sessions, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2 workshops. These run throughout the year with updates of the National picture plus opportunities to standardise and moderate with other teachers across a network of schools. Whilst these workshops are aimed at ECTs and RQTs, more experienced teachers have often found them beneficial too.

We can also provide a tailored programme aimed at teachers who are ECTs or recently qualified. Areas the courses cover include:

  • Subject specific modules, for example, strategies to improve the teaching of Mathematics, Phonics, Guided reading, SPAG, STEM etc.  This will also cover topic and subject planning e.g. Maths, English, Computing, PE

  • SEN and Inclusion, IPRs

  • Skills focussed modules such as marking and feedback, behaviour management.

Our courses are influenced by feedback from teachers from the area and those who have attended previous courses.  This ensures that training remains relevant and also allows courses to be useful for more experienced teachers who may need a refresher in a particular skill or subject.

If you have a general query on developing your skills as a teacher, Induction Tutor or ECT mentor then please drop us a line indicating what you are looking for and someone will be in touch.  You can use the Contact Us link for ways in which to get in touch and to find out dates for upcoming workshops.
